Faun hunting and small updates [

Ack!

Hey there, Finnian here. Things have still be relatively quiet, mostly due to the amount of storms and rain, so we haven't been able to set out as many physical objects in public places, since many cannot get wet, and many can be blown away. Hopefully the weather will change soon, and we can get back to work!

In related news, a while back I had mentioned something about staging a faun hunt in a park/public place. The progress is as follows: the person who is building the faun hooves/legs is currently searching for good furs, and has the reference art and measurements, so soon the ball should be rolling. As for people participating, we still need some people! So, if you are local, feel free to drop me a line, or comment here, which ever. We now have a jellyfishing net, which is pretty much a long bamboo pole, with a small butterfly net on the end. I think that would be rather funny for someone to use. I am always open to ideas as well, so feel free to share!

For public performances and appearances, I am also on the search for clothing items, props, and jewelry. I did find an amazing artist who seems to take commissions, and her woodland based stuff is probably the best I have seen to date. I think my favorite piece is
Cloaked in Moss
by *nolwen on deviantART Stunning, is it not?

So, feel free to link me to places/shops/people as well! And remember if you'd like to join in on glamourbombing fun, or even just hanging out and chatting, don't be shy! I figure the next big update will be around the end of October, unless anything comes up before then.

Long time no post, eh?

So, yesterday myself (Finnian) and one of my good friends decided that we should make some public art. We headed to the nearest park, set our selves up near the Wind Harp, and started drawing. She drew an intricate pattern of swirls and stripes, while I drew a rather large face/head. Green and blue hair, pink and purple eyes. We also drew some of our personal characters, and signed the stuff, I wrote "LOVE", and we left, It was on the main pathway that goes all the way through the center of the park, so we know people will see it. I will try and go back later this week sometime to do something new, and sign the URL leading here, so I can see who found it, and what they think.

As for other things that have been going on, I have been dropping a lot more books around, and I happened to catch the conversation of one of the finders. It seemed to have made their day, which in turn, made my day! I have some children's books and activity books I want to drop somewhere, but I am not sure where is a good place. I live on the same street of a grade school, and was thinking about leaving some stuff around there, like by the bus loop, or something. Not sure...any good ideas where kids could pick up cool little books? I think right now it's between the grade school, and some of the nearby playgrounds.

Choreography for our musicals has been on hold a bit, since the other members of that group have been busy, and we are all college kids, so we don't live super close to each other. I am sure we will get it done in time though, maybe over holiday.

The same friend who went chalking with me, is making a replica of the TARDIS from Dr. Who right now, so when it is done...we will hit the town with it in tow, and hopefully use it for Time-Traveler Day in December. If you live in south Florida, and see a blue police box traveling about, it's us!

We are working on a few more things, but I'll try and keep you all posted!

Outings [

Hey, things are still heavy under contruction, but there are always things happening, such as both Avi and Fridolph releasing a few bottle messages in various places.

11 books and counting are being prepared for drops for Book Crossing as I type this up.

This summer we as a group are trying to arrange a few...outings, as we like to call them. We want to find other people who are interested in joining us, for any or all of the following outtings:

Zombie outing (will be run by Steve, our resident zombie, of course.)
Mythic/kin outing (we aren't sure who is running this yet, it is between a few members right now.)
A Harry Potter themed outing (will probably be run by Fridolph.)
Our resident Jedi and Sit want a Star Wars themed outing.
A ninja/sentai mixed or solid outing. (I think Aki wants this one.)
A hero/villain themed one. (run by Hex, but we don't know when he's available.)
And probably a few more, but those are the major ones.

Pretty much the outtings for the most part include: dressing the part, being "in character", going to a public location, and having some (legal) fun! We are not responsible for anyone who decides to endulge in illegal activities, or gets into any form of trouble. So behave! We prefer people over the age of 18, but responsible people under 18 can also attend, since it is not a formal meet, and is just kinda like a gathering.

If you pass this along, or are interested, let us know!

Spread the word, please [

Well, so far we have no readers, so I’m not quite sure why we are posting anything. But anywho…since there are so many members here at the GalmourBomb Squad better known as Touched By Magick, I (Finnian) have asked an artist-friend of ours to make our icons to distinguish us all from each other! Exciting, no? YES! So, even though this journal is mainly for people who find our work, I would also appreciate if other people read and commented, or even asked questions here! So spread the word, please! Remember all questions should be asked at the FAQ Q&A page. Thank you in advance, and look out for our upcoming icons!

Current members who will be getting icons: Avi, Asheon, Finnian, Aki, Fridolph, Okama, Hexadecimal, Steve, Ekron and Sondo Tu. If you want to talk to any of the members, feel free to either post, or ask questions at the Q&A page, or hit us up directly by e-mail, AIM, or MSN.

Thanks again!

FAQ [

Oh, I am very sorry! I also meant in the first post to open up a Q&A post. Sorry! Please post questions here, so I can answer them, and keep a collective FAQ, if you send questions elsewhere, they will end up here, unless you request otherwise.

I should clarify that despite this being my (Finnian)'s journal, I do not work alone! I will probably whip up some icons for each member of our little group of merry makers. That way everyone will know who is posting, since this will be a shared journal once the studio is up and going.

So let's begin the FAQ!

Books freed into the wild! [

Greetings again!

So, because the studio is so far under construction that not many physical glamours are being produced right now, I have opted to work on other things at the same time. So, I joined the popular site known as Book Crossing, and have set up to release a small stack of varied books. I registered 11 books this morning, that includes some children's books, some biographies, and some classics. I figure some of them will be released around in south Florida, and I will either save some of them for my summer travels, or get some new ones before I leave. I do encourage anyone who knows what a book is, to join Book Crossing, and to help the movement of knowledge! It doesn't need to be a book you've even read, just pass it on! Also, if anyone out there finds a book with the Book Crossing label in it, please note on the website that you found it, or read it, or are passing it on! There are people out there hunting down our books like vampires! Let them be free!

How I label my books (for future reference). Inside the front cover I place the normal Book Crossing label with the number. I also put a link back to this blog, for people to let me know they enjoyed their find. On the outside of the front cover, I put either a sticky pad memo, or some other kind of paper note, with either a quote, or notice.

I will give an example of what I mean by letting your know what some of the 11 books say:

To Kill a Mockingbird: "Free Book! (Kill 2 birds with one...book?)"
SpongeBob Jokebook: "Everyone loves a soggy joke. (Even Squidward!)" (appropriately next to mopey Squidward)
(big thick Dune book): "Don't let my weight intimidate you. Enjoy me."
(A very aged copy of Anne Frank's diary): "The coloration of my pages exposes my age and eternal beauty. Enjoy."
Wyatt Earp: *picture of a mustache* "Read me!"
Jackie O's bio: "Take me home!"

See what I mean? Some are deeper then others, some are thoguht bubbles on the characters, or what not. I think people should have fun with this project. So, if you see a book somewhere with a note on the front, or a label inside, pick it up, read it, pass it on, and document it online!

In other news...I have decided that I am going to also participate in Postcard X at least 1 time a month. I usually do not have much money to send packages, and whatnot, but even if I send a letter or some art to some random person, I will be content.

Well, for right now, that is all. I will probably work on the Deviant Art account later when I get back to a computer. If anyone has any questions or wants to chat, as usual, feel free to contact me!

Let the magick begin! [

Greetings all! Or I suppose none?

This is the initial posting for this journal, and I would like to explain what it is exactly.

Basically, in the area of south Florida, and on occasions other places, a modern satyr fae likes to leave little gifts and what are known as glamourbombs, out and about for the mortals of Earth to find. If you don't know what a glamourbomb is, in short, it is something that makes a person question reality and magick, and possibilities of other beings and realms. These things can range from quotes being strategically placed, artwork in public places, "dressing up", and many more activities.

So pretty much, this satyr, known as Finnian, goes about and leaves art and gifts and such for people to find, and also leaves a link to this journal. That is so people who find his glamours can come and give feedback, or just say whatever they want about their finding or interaction with him. There is also a DeviantArt account that he maintains, and that is where he will post his creations for all to see online. Kind of like an archive of his actions.

So, chances are, if you stumble across this journal, you are one of the "victims" of his works. Congrats! You can feel free to tell others about your finds and Finnian. Feel free to "friend" this journal, and if you have a DeviantArt account, you can "watch" him over there, also. If anyone has any questions or comments, or anything, or even if you just want to chat, you can contact Finnian online, at TouchedByMagick@hotmail.com. Or, you can add him on AIM: HoofBombs.

Right now, things are quiet here, because he is busy working on many projects to leave out and about, but things should be up and running VERY soon! Exciting, eh?
